About The Power of Connectedness Exhibition

The Power of Connectedness is an online exhibit of artworks by The Pleiades Project, an international artist's collaboration.  It was originally planned to be a material exhibition in Australia in 2021. That in-person exhibit had to be put on hold due to the ravages and restrictions of the COVID-19 Pandemic. To keep momentum going, the seven artists of The Pleiades Project - Estelle Anderson, Lois Denham, and Peta Milne of AU, and Diana Dunkley, Debra Nelson, Nan Renbarger, and Margaret Rose of the US - opted to create this online exhibit until it is possible to have an actual on-site exhibit in the future. The artists of The Pleiades Project have come together to demonstrate that meaningful connections and artistic expression can flourish, even in the most challenging times.

Initially in 2014 we embraced themes based on the Pleiades Open Star Cluster. Through our amazing first face to face meeting in 2018, and through our strengthened group evolution, we are now informing our art with broader topics such as The Power of Connectedness. Each artist worked collaboratively and individually to bring these artworks to the exhibition.

Although the artists of The Pleiades Project use various modes and media for their work, we are all united and committed to growing the seeds of power of artistic endeavors.

About The Pleiades Project: an International Artists Collaboration

The Pleiades Project is an exciting community of seven women artists which includes Estelle Anderson, Lois Denham and Peta Milne from Australia, and Diana Dunkley, Debra Nelson, Nan Renbarger and Margaret Rose from the US.

The Star Sisters embrace the spirit of individualism and collaboration through a variety of projects which allow them to explore themes through group and individual endeavors. They have created many multi-disciplinary artworks and project collaborations inspired by the science, mystery, and mythology of this intriguing grouping of stars. Each of the seven artists are different and unique individuals, creating in a number of mediums such as videos, poetry, multi-media, sculpture, textiles, drawing, painting, and conceptual artwork.

Through in-person and on-line meetings and due to their immediate affinity for one another as individuals and as a group, the artworks of the collaboration have evolved to inform their projects with broader topics such as The Power of Connectedness.

A bit of history: In 2014, co-collaborators Diana Dunkley and Margaret Rose decided to work together again in a project based on the M45 Open Star Cluster. Meanwhile, the online scrabble game “Words With Friends” had formed a 9276 mile connection between Australian artist Peta Milne and Kansas Artist Dunkley. In August of 2014 this three-person collaboration morphed into an ongoing artist group which now includes seven. Together they are The Pleiades Project: An International Collaboration of Women Artists.

The Pleiades Project is a collaborative collective of seven women artists from Australia and the United States, dedicated to exploring themes of connection, resilience, and hope through their art. The group was formed in 2014, and aims to inspire and uplift audiences through their unique perspectives and innovative artistic expressions.
